Once you have been in trouble and have a traffic violation on your record, it can seem like it will be forever before you will have a normal rate again. It is hard to have to keep on being reminded every time you pay your insurance premium that you screwed up and have to pay more then most people. Maybe you have outstanding fines as well that you are trying to pay off. At least you know that this will not last forever. At some point your rates will go back down and you will be caught up at least.

There are some things you can do that may help you get back to that place faster then you think. You should ask your insurance company if they have a driving class you can take. If you take the class that they send you to, they may be able to lower your rate when you pass it. This way they know you are being proactive in becoming a safer driver then you were yesterday. It will also show that you care and have no intentions of making the same mistakes. They could take this into consideration and give you a better rate then the one you have before you take the class.

Another thing you can do if you have not already is look at the car you are driving. Is it safe? If it does not have the proper safety equipment in it then you will have to pay more for your insurance even if you are not considered high risk. Look into buying a car that is safer. One that has automatic seat belts and air bags for your self and the passengers. They even have cars that come equipped with airbags that come out of the doors on the inside, so that provides even more protection.

Maybe you are not able to afford to get a whole new car, at least you still have the option of attending a defensive driving class that they can set up for you. If they do not know of any you can go and check with your local DMV office, and once you pass the course, take the certificate to your insurance company.

There are just too many people that drive carelessly now and the insurance companies have no choice but to crack down on it. They can not make it comfortable for people to put them self and others at danger when they are driving. Sometimes if someone has too many violations, the state could take

their license away leaving them not able to drive at all. This will really make it hard to get back and forth to work, or to get groceries, or anything it is that you need to do. If you can not drive, then you may have to move somewhere that is close to stores that you can just manage day to day. It would be either that or having to call someone for a ride every time you needed something.
